I've Been Thinking..

Soft cotton socks, cotton swabs, Kleenex, toilet paper(?) 100% cotton, natural fiber, (are they talking about me?) made from Egyptian long fiber cotton,(good right?) GYN say's "cotton undies"... make mine french cut.

Hot Cotton is cool, 50% cotton 50% man made, trust neither(?) Have you ever jumped in a busted bale of Cotton at the Gin? I have. What fun! I have plucked cotton, plucking is easy on your hands. We never thought of wearing gloves, but we did strategically put the hard heavy boles through our sack. Never on the bottom as my brother found out doesn't work, AT ALL. You'll get docked 10 cents. We were so slow we shared a row. He was in front and I better not catch up to him. If we made 75 cents we were rich! It was fun, when we got tired we sat down in the row and threw the green boles at each other.

Do you think I'm in the deep south..? No, deep in the San Joaquin Valley.

What about paper? Has anybody suspected paper? The newspaper , no problem. I can get goose bumps from the shiny pages of a magazine. I'm a self confessed magazine junkie. Love magazines. Fashion, gardening, Seed magazines, decorating, Cat Fancy, you might think who buys that one, I do. Good writing paper has cotton in it.

I do floral crafts. Aaah...... the smell of Spanish Moss when you rip open a bag, imported from China. Vine things and vine wreaths, imported from Thailand. Where I live, I can throw a rock and hit a vineyard, so why does my 'vine' stuff come from Thailand? Really beautiful FAKE flowers, hand wrapped... Indonesia. Everything, made anywhere but where you are.

We are use to it. Franciscan stoneware dishes, yes, our beautiful Franciscan stoneware, native to California and originally made by the Franciscan Monks, now made overseas, anywhere. Royal Dalton, my dream dishes that I dreamed about for years. I finally got, (BTW) after they are no longer made in England. Now, made in Indonesia.

When I was a teen I didn't want anything unless it came from the Import Shop. The big white building of The International Import House could put a smile on my face. We would ride the bus 25 miles to shop there, we loved it all. Gas after all was 27 cents a gallon. It was the late 60's and all things Hippie were IMPORTED, 'good'.. right? ...always 'Bitchen'.

I loved playing in the dirt when I was a kid and never really grew out of it. I packed mud in cups and turned them upside down all over the porch. Some I would stick beautiful leaves in for a little flare. I would ask my Mom what kind of leaf it was and she would say "Geranium" ...."anybody can grow Geraniums"... or "that's a blade from my Flags (Iris) why did you rip that off?" Then my Mom , very good naturedly would come along later that day with the broom and sweep away my Masterpieces. I made so many mud pies that we had a permenant mud hole on the north side of the house. That's what my Mom would say. When we played Annie Annie Over I would send my friend to the South side and I would take the North side. She was always confused, "where's the North and where's the South?"

I don't want to think that this disease came from any of the things that I have always loved. I love being a pet owner. I'm a responsible one. I have a good worming routine, current shots, regular baths and nail trims. I have bred Corgi's for many years. I first decided that if they were good enough for the Queen, they were good enough for me, and they are noted for their smile. Now I can tell you all the great things about Corgi's if you have a few hours. Yes 'they' smile but the best thing is they make me smile!

Could any of these things possibly be the origin of my misery? What could possibly be wrong with gardening, Corgi's, cotton, mud pies, a cheap trip around the world at the import shop? English China made in Indonesia, Spanish Moss from China, soft cotton, Hot Cotton, keeping the Hearst Corp. in business, I say!

N O T paranoid.... just crazy in California. Why......? Well, every morning I talk to "our" disease. "You might as well give up, cause I'm not gonna..!" No answer......that means I'm OK. right..?

I might be passionate about life and that includes being passionate about a cure for this disease.
